About the Author

Allyson is a writer of all things weird from short stories to novels. Her first novel won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in First Novel [2011], and she was also awarded The British Fantasy Society Award for Best Collection [2009].  She has contributed to multiple anthologies and co-edited with Joel Lane the anti-fascist/anti-racist anthology, Never Again.  Allyson moved to New Zealand in 2011, becoming a small farmer in the Wairarapa region, breeding Dexter cattle.  She held the position of Chair of Collections for the Horror Writers Association of America for two years.

‘Allyson Bird is a rare bird indeed.  An original voice in a world of plain vanilla. She rides some dark waves with grace and a heart full of light and shadow.  If there’s any justice, she’s on her way to real recognition.’   Joe R. Lansdale.
